I have a gold ring with a large Amethyst gemstone set on the ring. The ring is about 15 years old and through the years it has lost its shine and luster. In short, it doesn't sparkle like it should. How do I clean the gemstone to bring back that shine?
Gemstones tend to attract grease so it could be that this is the problem. It may be worth taking into account how you are storing this ring. Amethyst can fade if left in the sunlight over extended periods of time, so when you are not wearing it make sure it is stored in a dark place.
